Are You a Candidate For Fat Blasting Carboxotherapy?

Carboxotherapy is a non-surgical procedure offered at the Pinewood Natural Health Institute that involves injecting gaseous CO2 into the cutaneous and subcutaneous layers of the skin.  At Pinewood, we use microneedles to artfully sculpt your body by removing fat where you most need it.

Carboxytherapy can remove unwanted fat from anywhere in your body including, back, fat, double chins, upper arm fat, thigh fat above the knees, love handles and belly fat.

How Carboxy Fat Removal Works

In essence, carboxytherapy is a form of mesotherapy that has been modified to remove fat molecules. It is a treatment that originated in France in the 1930s after it was noted that bathing in natural springs full of carbon dioxide water helped to significantly speed up the healing of wounds.  Today, Carboxytherapy has many other applications including smoothing the skin and the removal of scars and stretch marks.  It is also used to encourage hair regrowth and artful injections of CO2 can be used to treat dark under eye circles

Carboxytherapy is useful for so many different problems because carbon dioxide is such a basic component of human biochemistry.  Our cells naturally produce the gas as a waste product that is expelled through the lungs.  When the carbon dioxide gas is injected underneath the skin we are tricking the body into increased blood flow to the fatty or injured area.  The body senses the vasodilation of the blood vessels and forces blood into the treated area.

It usually takes multiple treatments for the carboxytherapy to take full effect although some people have seen immediate results after using it for cellulite. Fat deposits gathering beneath the skin lending it that “orange peel” appearance cause cellulite. The naturopathic doctor works on cellulite by injecting doses of CO2 into the cellulite deposits and blazing the fat cells away. The treatment also improves the quality of connective skin tissues thus allowing the skin to appear smoother.

Fat reduction is accomplished by the injection of CO2 using mesotherapy techniques.  The needles need to be inserted precisely at targeted areas to avoid unbalanced effects. This is what is known as fat blasting or cool sculpting.  The CO2 destroys the fat cells, which are in turn eliminated safely and naturally through the body as a liquefied fatty substance.

Usually six to twelve sessions are needed to treat the area depending on the severity of the problem.

What to Expect After a Carboxytherapy Treatment

The amount of carbon dioxide that it takes it takes to blast the fat away is eliminated by the body after just a few seconds.  Some people feel mild tingling at the point of injection for a few seconds and the area that is treated might feel a bit warmer for about twenty minutes afterwards, which is the sensation of the blood speeding to the treated area and part of the healing response.  The treatment is not painful at all but some people might experience mild bruising at the injection site.
